Six Under $50: Fall Staples

Six Under Fifty

1. Bauble Bar $44, 2. ASOS $37, 3. H&M $15, 4. H&M $18, 5. ASOS $30, 6. Bauble Bar $34

Beautiful, timeless pieces are certainly worth a financial investment, but too often trends come and go and are not worth spending extravagant amounts of money on.  Here, I have found 6 fabulous pieces for Fall 2013 that are sure to please a crowd, and your wallet, and that are trendy but have staying power.  I love them all, but I am particularly fond of the red cheetah print ASOS swing dress, which incorporates a hot Fall 2013 color into an already timeless print.  I am also falling head over heals for graphic tees with typography.  Every time I see a nicely sewn tee with a witty saying or foreign phrase, I find myself reaching for my wallet!

XOXO,

NYFW: Mid-Week Musings

So, let’s all be a little bit honest, it is ridiculously difficult to focus on one’s own fashion blog when New York Fashion Week is going on.  I find myself checking Instagram and Twitter twice as often, and I end up reading my Bloglovin’ feed more than once a day (because there is plenty to read this week).  Combine that with being sick and you end up with a pretty sad looking week for outfits, but a wonderful week for some NYFW recon.  So far, I am loving what I’m seeing!

Favorite collections so far: Zimmermann and Monique Lhullier (!) .  I have to say that I am loving what I’m seeing for Spring 2014!  I’m excited about the return of bright colors AND pastels, especially PINKS!!! (<- remember that come spring)

Here are some of my favorite Instagram pics from NYFW so far:

September

Harper's September Issue 2013

There are two words that instantly make my heart beat a little faster: September Issue.  For fashion magazines, the September issue is the pinnacle of the year.  It usually has the most advertisements, the most eye-catching design, and the best dressed cover model of the entire year.  For fashion enthusiasts, the September issue is the holy grail.  Each magazine’s September issue usually towers above all the others, ranging from a mere 3/4″ to well over 1″ in thickness.  It is this issue that sets the tone for the year; the issue that fashionistas will pour over for hours on end, searching for style inspiration or lusting over furs and handbags.

This year’s September issues, in my opinion, have not been a let down.  The trends of Fall 2013 are right up my alley, and I am keen on trying some new and fabulous ideas this fall and winter.  Here are some of my favorite fall/winter trends for 2013:

  • Opulence: Think feathers, sequins, metallic colors, and all things glittery
  • GOLD: It’s back and better than ever
  • Top-handle bags: Channel your inner Jackie O and jump on this trend
  • Fur: Whether it’s faux or real, fur is definitely IN this season.  A good way to get your hands on the real deal without the ethical implications is to shop for vintage fur.  (Another plus: you can avoid the hefty costs of upkeep by buying vintage furs because they are usually near the end of their lifespan)
  • Red lips: Crimson isn’t the only color on the radar for this fall

What do you think? What are some of your favorite Fall 2013 trends, and how do you want to incorporate them into your style?

XOXO,
