We finally made it Florida and had our first meeting with the wedding planner today!  Despite the Florida heat, I couldn’t resist dabbling in a monochromatic scheme.  I paired my flowy black chiffon top with black skinnies for an unbelievably comfortable outfit that made my busy day oh so enjoyable.  I am also learning to love wearing multiple bracelets with outfits – especially those that need a little pizzazz. I can’t wait to try some more monochromatic outfits this fall and winter!

Gone Too Long

The few days have been a bit rough, but I will be back soon (very soon actually)!  Thankfully, my sorrows have been cured via shopping therapy, and I cannot wait to share all my beautiful finds – more like steals – with you guys!  For now, I’ll just leave you with a photo that features a vintage ring that my mother gave me years and years ago.  I love it and I am so thrilled that I found it while packing for Florida!

Some days you just want to be ridiculously and unapologetically comfortable, and today was one of those days.  The paradoxical Raleigh, NC weather has left me slightly stumped when choosing outfits, but today was one of the last truly summery days.  To celebrate the end of summer, I decided to pull out my sheer mini/maxi skirt and layer a sleeveless denim button-up over it.  Though my jewelry was decidedly minimal, I couldn’t resist the urge to spruce my outfit up a bit with my favorite clutch- a cheetah print sequined envelope clutch from BCBG Max Azria.  What can I say?  I just can’t resist adding a little sparkle to any outfit!

Six Under $50: Fall Staples

Beautiful, timeless pieces are certainly worth a financial investment, but too often trends come and go and are not worth spending extravagant amounts of money on.  Here, I have found 6 fabulous pieces for Fall 2013 that are sure to please a crowd, and your wallet, and that are trendy but have staying power.  I love them all, but I am particularly fond of the red cheetah print ASOS swing dress, which incorporates a hot Fall 2013 color into an already timeless print.  I am also falling head over heals for graphic tees with typography.  Every time I see a nicely sewn tee with a witty saying or foreign phrase, I find myself reaching for my wallet!

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target (for real)

As you all know, the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target line has absolutely FLOWN off the shelves.  I even think a majority of the handbags were completely sold out online within a few hours.  I have learned that living in a smaller suburb does have its advantages, though, because I was able to snag some of the bags!

Screen Shot 2013-09-18 at 1.26.12 PM Screen Shot 2013-09-18 at 1.27.03 PMRight now, I have both of these bags in my Poshmark closet, but I am honestly considering keeping the black weekender tote for travel.  It would be so fabulous for traveling down to Florida for wedding planning and for taking on our honeymoon.

I have to say that my favorite piece of clothing from the collection is the navy and green sweater.  Unfortunately, I did not buy it immediately and missed out on adding it to my closet (sad day).

So what do you think? Should I keep the weekender tote or not?

A New Week, A New Outfit

Dress: Thakoon for Target (reeeally old), Military Jacket: Roxy, Belt: Calvin Klein, Shoes: Target,  Sunnies: Cole Haan, Handbag: Louis Vuitton, Bracelets: Juicy Couture, Sage K & Co., Bella Perlina, Zahav

With a new week comes renewed health and a new outfit.  Now, almost all of these pieces are ones I have had for a loooong time now, but I was definitely in the mood to toughen up my favorite Thakoon for Target dress, which is new for me.  Even though it is starting to feel like fall, the weather is not exactly leather jacket friendly yet here, so I figured a 3/4 sleeve military jacket would complement my dress in this semi-heat.  Even though I love this Roxy jacket (leftover from my days as a Quiksilver employee), I seriously want an olive anorak.  Maybe that will be my next purchase… who knows?

NYFW: Mid-Week Musings

So, let’s all be a little bit honest, it is ridiculously difficult to focus on one’s own fashion blog when New York Fashion Week is going on.  I find myself checking Instagram and Twitter twice as often, and I end up reading my Bloglovin’ feed more than once a day (because there is plenty to read this week).  Combine that with being sick and you end up with a pretty sad looking week for outfits, but a wonderful week for some NYFW recon.  So far, I am loving what I’m seeing!

Favorite collections so far: Zimmermann and Monique Lhullier (!) .  I have to say that I am loving what I’m seeing for Spring 2014!  I’m excited about the return of bright colors AND pastels, especially PINKS!!! (<- remember that come spring)

Here are some of my favorite Instagram pics from NYFW so far:

Find of the Week

This past week, I ventured to one of my favorite consignment shops in the area to kill some time, and I found something every girl needs: gorgeous black flats.  Not only were these flats beautiful, but they were brand new Stuart Weitzman black mary jane flats.  I tried them on just to see if they would fit and they were perfect!  I was certainly surprised when I found out that they were only $30 (lucky day for me, huh?!).  Thanks to my wonderful find, my transition into a fall wardrobe will be that much easier, and I’m sure I will get much loving wear out of these beautiful shoes:

P is for Poncho

Now, I know it isn’t quite fall yet, but it is close enough to begin the transition to a semi-fall wardrobe.  The remaining heat of the summer resulted in my choice of a poncho [cue Anne Hathaway: “A poncho?”, Stanley Tucci: “You’re going to take what I give you and you’re going to like it”].  All in all, I cannot wait until the weather begins to cool down a bit so I can wear my new (and fabulous) fall clothing.  Anyone else excited for some cooler weather?

XOXO,

September

Harper's September Issue 2013

There are two words that instantly make my heart beat a little faster: September Issue.  For fashion magazines, the September issue is the pinnacle of the year.  It usually has the most advertisements, the most eye-catching design, and the best dressed cover model of the entire year.  For fashion enthusiasts, the September issue is the holy grail.  Each magazine’s September issue usually towers above all the others, ranging from a mere 3/4″ to well over 1″ in thickness.  It is this issue that sets the tone for the year; the issue that fashionistas will pour over for hours on end, searching for style inspiration or lusting over furs and handbags.

This year’s September issues, in my opinion, have not been a let down.  The trends of Fall 2013 are right up my alley, and I am keen on trying some new and fabulous ideas this fall and winter.  Here are some of my favorite fall/winter trends for 2013:

  • Opulence: Think feathers, sequins, metallic colors, and all things glittery
  • GOLD: It’s back and better than ever
  • Top-handle bags: Channel your inner Jackie O and jump on this trend
  • Fur: Whether it’s faux or real, fur is definitely IN this season.  A good way to get your hands on the real deal without the ethical implications is to shop for vintage fur.  (Another plus: you can avoid the hefty costs of upkeep by buying vintage furs because they are usually near the end of their lifespan)
  • Red lips: Crimson isn’t the only color on the radar for this fall

What do you think? What are some of your favorite Fall 2013 trends, and how do you want to incorporate them into your style?
