New and Improved… and Moving!

Sugar & Shine

So, I have some fabulous news… Lauren Kilpatrick is MOVING!  Redesign has been on my mind for a while now, and the youth of this blog makes this possible and practically easy.  Sooooo, the new name is Sugar & Shine and it is located at sugarandshineblog.wordpress.com !  Wordpress doesn’t let me change the name and url of this blog to make it so you don’t have to follow a new blog, so all my followers will have to go to the new site and follow my blog from there.  Either way, all of the previous content is on there already, along with the redesign.  If you want to keep getting posts from me, all the new ones will be on Sugar & Shine  (new post coming today!) 🙂

See you guys there!

Top: LOFT, Pants: Target, Shoes: Nine West (similar here), Handbag: Louis Vuitton, Earrings: Betsey Johnson

One of my favorite recent purchases is this pair of Nine West leopard flats that I bought on Poshmark.  I went for a super relaxed outfit today and paired a loose fitting button-up top with my slouchy camel pants.  I figured I needed a little pop, so I decided that today was a day for my flats.  I personally think they added a TON to this outfit.  What do you think?

Add a Little Bootie

Sweater: Kohls, Jeans: LC Lauren Conrad, Handbag: BCBGeneration, Booties: Isola, Pin: Vintage

I have loved the pairing of boyfriend jeans and booties since I first saw it in Sex and the City: The Movie.  Since leaving my lifelong home of Florida for North Carolina, I have been able to try the pairing myself, and I have to say that I am definitely digging it (Yes, I did say DIGGING it 😉 ).  Lately, I have been experimenting with pinning brooches to the seaming of my sweaters to jazz them up as an alternative to a statement necklace, another pairing I am loving as well.  Here’s to hoping that this season brings new ideas, creations, pairings, clothes, and smiles.

With fall weather comes a handful of dreary days that make you want to wear sweatpants all day. Though you may be inclined to stay inside, most, unfortunately, do not have the luxury of avoiding bad weather by bunkering down in their home. These are the days when one of the biggest challenges awaits: making comfortable clothing chic. I ditched my sweatpants and tee for a J Crew ensemble that has enough textural contrast to keep it interesting. My outfit choices not only kept me comfortable, but they potentially saved other items in my closet, like my calf skin leopard flats, from being ruined by the rain.

Let’s kick off the weekend with Raggamuffin by Selah Sue. Talk about some great shopping music.

Shirt: Roxy, Jacket: Target, Jeans: LC Lauren Conrad, Tank: Target, Shoes: Croft & Barrow, Sunnies: Gucci

Fall officially arrived in Raleigh while I was down in Florida, and I am so excited to transition into full-on fall now!  I chose to dress warmly today in an outfit that screams “half of these clothes could be my boyfriend’s”; well, they might if I was dating a hipster.  This outfit makes me feel confident and beautiful, which is just the way I like it.  I did get a little silly today during the shoot (hence the last photo), but girls just want to have fun, right?

A Grand Inheritance

Mirrored End Table

Lamp

One of the perks of getting married is that my parents have offered my fiance and I some furniture for our future home. We are currently in Florida visiting our families and meeting with our wedding planners to get things done before the big day. Amongst the things coming back to Raleigh with us are two gorgeous mirrored end tables and a beautiful glass lamp with an embellished lampshade. I can’t wait to add these to our growing collection of furniture, and I am looking forward to our IKEA adventure tomorrow! Hopefully we will exit IKEA with plenty of tea lights in hand (wedding must-haves) and a bookshelf to transform into this beautiful little piece I saw on Little Lessy :

Here’s hoping the end result will be beautiful!

We finally made it Florida and had our first meeting with the wedding planner today!  Despite the Florida heat, I couldn’t resist dabbling in a monochromatic scheme.  I paired my flowy black chiffon top with black skinnies for an unbelievably comfortable outfit that made my busy day oh so enjoyable.  I am also learning to love wearing multiple bracelets with outfits – especially those that need a little pizzazz. I can’t wait to try some more monochromatic outfits this fall and winter!

Gone Too Long

The few days have been a bit rough, but I will be back soon (very soon actually)!  Thankfully, my sorrows have been cured via shopping therapy, and I cannot wait to share all my beautiful finds – more like steals – with you guys!  For now, I’ll just leave you with a photo that features a vintage ring that my mother gave me years and years ago.  I love it and I am so thrilled that I found it while packing for Florida!

XOXO,
